Most of you have kept up with me through facebook; so I'm not a total stranger (LOL).

2010..a year of new beginnings. The past six months has been a rollercoaster for me. Looking back at my last post, I think about how much I have overcome and how many great memories I have made with family and friends.

This new year brings a new job; more time with my family and church family; and an unending love for God. However, the past few months have really tested my spirit.

With the death of my father, I found myself dealing with feelings and emotions I thought didn't exist. I still questioned how a parent could ever leave their children and seemingly never reach out to form that relationship. I also learned the true meaning of forgivenenss and unconditional love. I told my father before he passed all the things I wished had been between us..I wish he had been there for my wedding, the birth of my children, graduations, etc. But also realized, as I was sitting next to his bed, that I am who I am because he didn't come to those things in my life.

His nurse knew of our "rocky" relationship and told me what a great person I was because I was still right beside him up until his death. I felt guilty that I hadn't reached out more when he was alive. But God had a plan. Still not sure I completely understand it; but the man I was once ashamed to call my father..was my daddy and in the end, I was proud that he was my daddy.

It's weird, but I feel like his death brought me and my mom closer together. We have always had a really close relationship; but I never wanted to talk about my dad with her because I didn't want to upset her. When we found out about his cancer, she was completely willing to talk about the past and answer any questions I had. She was also right there beside me at the funeral service; even though this must have been totally uncomfortable for her. She has never let me down and has taught me how to be an amazing mother.

My church family has also taught me so much in the past few weeks (especially about the power of prayer). When pulling into the funeral home for my dad's service, a big van with Walton's Chapel on the side was sitting there with a bunch of youth. I was never more touched and proud in all my life. Just as my professional career was requiring more of me and taking time from these people, God reinforced my purpose in this world.

A couple more people I can't leave out that have really been there for me through this difficult time...my husband is amazing. No matter what, he always knows just what to say, or not to say. Sometimes he just sits there and holds me. And sometimes, he makes me dust off the dirt and get back up. And because I married him, I got the most amazing mother-in-law. She always knows just what to say and when to say it. Whether it's a phone call, email, or facebook. My relationship with her makes me a better woman everyday.

And one more...when I was 14 I met my brother for the first time. We stayed on the phone from like 8 one night to 3 the next morning. The past couple of months have brought us even closer together than we were. He gives me things to think about and always puts my situation in perspective. He is my best friend and I love him with all my heart.

I lied..just one more..my wonderful, amazing, pregnant with twins sister. Although we have different beliefs on just about everything; she is also my best friend. I treat her more like a daughter; than a sister. I worry about her as I do Kaelyn and Caleb; she says it drives her crazy (but secretly, she loves it). She dealt with my dad's death differently; but she is always there for me.

I start my new job on January 11th. I am excited, nervous, and motivated. This job will allow me more time with my family and more time to serve the Lord. In the end, all of my worldly possessions will count for nothing. It will be my acts and service that the Lord will judge. I love you Jesus..I love you Walton's...and love to all my family.

A Rough Patch

It's been awhile since Relay for Life..things are finally starting to calm down as the summer is coming to a close. We still have some plans for the next few weekends before the kids go back to school... so I will share some pics of family time later.

Just the other day, I told someone that people usually know how I am feeling because I am not shy about my emotions. My friends and family know exactly how much I love them because I tell them consistently (yes, alot of me and my girlfriends say "I love you" when getting off the phone or leaving each other). But there has been something I haven't been telling anyone lately. I thought maybe if I just get it out there, I will feel better. So, here goes.

These past couple of months have been really difficult for me. After I sprained my ankle on Mother's Day, I have just been in a "funk." (Can't think of another way to describe it.) I was so motivated and inspired to work out and eat right before then; I felt great. Then, I couldn't work out. And, for some reason, when I don't work out, I don't eat right. It's even harder when you have a husband that runs 13 miles for fun and loses 5 lbs. in a day (not blaming you Chris, I'm so proud of you). I'm miserable. And what's worse..I'm insecure. For whatever reason, I'm so scared that Chris' new found "body and lifestyle" is going to leave me behind.

I'm sure he'll read this and tell me I'm crazy and how much he loves me. But, us women know, that won't help. It's not about how he feels about me; it's about I feel about myself.

To add insult to injury, I finally broke down and went to the doctor and had an MRI. They called and told me Saturday morning that I have to stay off my ankle and when I am on it, I have to use crutches. So, I have obviously hurt it worse than I thought.

Not looking for sympathy, just prayers and encouragement. I know God will take care of this..as he does everything else. For the moment, though, I just needed to tell someone. So, thanks for reading and listening.

Walton's Kids for Debbie

On Friday, June 5th, I participated in my first Relay for Life. I have always seen this event take place every year. My parents live very close to Barksdale; so each summer as a kid, I would ride by and see hundreds of people walking all night long..not really ever understanding why they were walking so long. Now, I get it.

This was a very rewarding evening. We worked for months raising money and encouraging those in our church who were battling cancer to continue fighting. This night was their night. We started out really because of Debbie Frazier. Debbie and her family are the type of people that you look at and know they would do anything for you..no matter what, hands down. Her husband Stanley, who can be a mess sometimes, is very quiet; but when you look in his eyes, you see straight through to his heart. And all I see is the love for his amazing wife and children that he has. It only seemed fitting for us to form a Relay for Life team in honor of Debbie and to support her wonderful family.

We mentioned in church that we were interested in doing this; I was overwhelmed by the amount of people that wanted to walk in support of Debbie. Forty-five people; some who had battled cancer already and survived..others who just wanted show their support. Over just a few months we raised about $3500. Those in our church that had survived cancer walked in purple shirts and were greeted with cheers and tears as they took their survivor lap that night.

Thank you to everyone who helped..we never could have done it alone. You opened up your wallets and your hearts and really gave all. We are already planning for next year; unfortunately, their will be others that we will have to walk for, but know God will take care of everything and there is always a plan. Fight the good fight; know you are not alone.

Check out pics in the slideshow...some from church events; some from Relay. And, I thought the title of this blog was fitting because we are all children of Jesus..and all for Debbie!

On Mother's Day

Mother's Day is such a special day for all of those that call themselves moms or grandmoms..or even Hiny. I am not sure that there is anyone more special in my life than the women that have influenced who I am. This morning in church I told everyone what my mother-in-law meant to me; so today, I thought I would share what my mom and my Hiny mean to me.

Mama..you have taught me so many things..strength, wisdom, endurance, and stubborness. I remember wondering when I was a kid how you did it all...you were a mom and a dad..and we never longed for anything (although we should have..you always made everything possible). You were there at all the softball games, the school functions, the birthdays, and the heartaches. You have made it through so much..I cannot imagine the person I would be without you. And now, my kids call you Nana..and you coach softball, are at the school functions, birthdays, and go through the heartaches. One thing I have definitely learned..a mother's job is never done. Thank you for all you do..I love you. And on a funny note..if you ever once doubted if I wanted to be like you..just remember this Mother's Day.

Hiny...no one else has a Hiny. I know I would not be where I am if it were not for the help of you and Papa. I can't begin to tell you how precious your love is to me. Although I grew up without a father..I had a Hiny..and that was alot better. Thank you for all that you have ever done for me and continue to do for me. My children love and adore you just as I did and do. You spoil both of them just like you did me. And although I complain and tell you that you shouldn't...secretly...I wouldn't want it any other way. I love you!

You never truly understand love until you are a mom. My children are the best thing that has ever happened to me. Thanks to all the moms out there! God Bless you!
It's Been a Long Time...

Thinking about writing this addition to the blog makes me tired. We have been so busy since New Kids on the Block! So, here is an update on the family!!!

Chris has lost 30 pounds in the past few months. I feel like I live with someone from The Biggest Loser! He is in weight loss competition at work and is determined to win. I am so proud of him though; and he has recently motivated me to get back to the Y and eat healthier. So, thanks Chris! He has one more week left and hopefully he will be a $100 richer; but if not, I am so glad he did this! He just signed up for the half marathon in Chicago in August; at least, I get to go along for the ride (or the run). Chris is also playing and coaching softball for the church again this year; alot of the youth are playing and are really into it. I think this has really motivated him again!

Kaelyn has started softball. So we now live at the ball field on the weekends. She has also gotten in to Zumba at the Y; which I am really excited about because I love it!!! At first she was a little unsure, but she definitely liked it after a little while. She also got voted character kid of the month at school. We have a reception next week to celebrate this. In June, her and Chris are going to church camp. I am so excited about this..we gave her an option between a couple of things to do this summer and she chose to learn about Jesus. I am so glad she feels such a connection already!!

Caleb is well...more rotten than ever. He is really into playing on the computer right now. He can almost say all of his ABC's and he can spell is name. He has a couple of games he really likes on the computer that helps him read and count. I can't believe how big he is getting...time flies when your raising kids.

And we have a new addition...George Michael Hampton...he is our new cocker spaniel. Chris and I spent weeks researching dogs that we thought would be perfect for our kids and our house. We finally found George. And he has been great. At first, he only wanted Chris. But now, he has warmed up to everyone. He is very loving and the kids have so much fun with him!!

And of course there's Mommy...well, I have been working out alot more. As I said, I love Zumba at the Y. I have also been running..I did 2 miles (I know doesn't sound like alot for you marathon people), but that was a marathon for me. I also just helped start a Relay for Life team through our church..this has definitely been a blessing. I have one more assignment for my class this semester and things are winding down with the Kaelyn's school--we have Field Day left and that's it! I'm sure we will be at the ballfields alot now; work is going great and am looking forward to a fun filled summer with the kids.

I think that's it. I have put some pictures in a slide show..just random of the past few months..ENJOY!

NKOTB--20 Years Later

On Monday, I crossed another adventure off my bucket list. I went to a New Kids on the Block concert. And although they are not new or kids, they are still HOT!!

Stacy went with me; which really meant more to me than she will ever know. We went to dinner and had girl talk..she mentioned that her husband just told her the other day that he wishes he had something that really connected him to his siblings that they could talk about (not those words, but what he meant). Stacy and I grew up watching movies, listening to music, and playing together. Don't get me wrong..we hated each other. It wasn't until I moved out that I realized how much I really loved her. This New Kids on the Block concert turned into one of my most memorable moments..because she was there with me. It wouldn't have been the same without her. We didn't stop screaming, dancing, and singing all night long. I will treasure this memory for the rest of my life.

Before the concert, we were in a restaurant that was playing all New Kids music. As soon as it came on, we were smiling ear to ear and singing. She said no matter what when you hear this, it just makes you smile. And she's right..I told her it wasn't really because of the music though..it takes me back to 1988; when I had no worries, no problems, and I could just be a kid.

This was the best concert I have ever been to...I loved every minute of it and am so glad I went. The New Kids have definitely grown up...by they still got it...and I still want it.

To Stacy...Thank you so much for going..I know this wasn't something you actually had on your "gotta do before I die" list; but thank you for doing it for me. I am so blessed that I have you in my life...I am so glad that we have so many things that connect us, that only we can say and really understand. Twenty years ago, I never would have thought my best friend would be you. But twenty years later, my best friend is you! I know we are totally different in all of our decision making and personality traits; but I am so proud of the woman you have become. I look forward to continue watching you grow as a wife and Christian. Thank you for being in my life and being my sister..my best friend.

Hey..do you want to go to Waffle House...Let's Get This!

Are you Fireproof?

I wanted to share a great movie with all of you. I'm sure you have all heard of Fireproof..the movie stars Kirk Cameron, who used to be known as a teenage heartthrob. These days he is known for Christian based films. The movie is based off of a book called "The Love Dare." Chris and I watched this movie together; and whether you feel like your marriage is on a cliff, or it couldn't get any better..this movie is definitely one to watch with your spouse. It teaches you things that you may have forgotten and just need a little reminder. Or, it shows you how you should be and reminds you that love, above all, is the most important thing in any relationship...and like anything, you have to work at it.

I have started The Love Dare. I bought the book while we were in Florida over the weekend. There is a new dare for each day and it takes 40 days. The first few have been the hardest. Not that I am not by nature a patient and kind person, but by nature I am a sarcastic person. So, I have to be careful that this is not perceived by Chris as rude or unthoughtful. I challenge all of you to try this. It will absolutely bring you closer to your spouse and God. Watch the movie..and consider, are you fireproof?

What's Been Going On?

So, I haven't been on here in forever. Life has been busy..church, work, kids, and oh yeah..I would really like to workout sometime. And don't forget class.

My last post was in relationship to Gatlinburg with our youth group. Recently we did a 30 hour famine with them. This was a very long time to be locked up with about 15 teenagers..after 30 hours we were hungry and ready to go home. It was a great learning for the kids and us..I can't imagine kids not eating for about 5 times that amount of time. We raised enough money to feed 50 kids for a month. That was a great success!

Work has been stressful. My company just cut 400 jobs and announced no raises this year. I am grateful to have a job though. I thank God that Chris and I have not yet had to face the fear of not being able to pay a bill or wondering how we will put food on the table. We have trimmed and budgeted more than usual, but we are so blessed to still have our jobs. I pray for those that have lost their jobs and that are struggling.

Chris is running alot more now and he has recruited Nay-Nay. They are pressuring me to run with them. I am not a runner. I think Pam Whitfield ruined my running days. We used to run forever around the horseshoe of CHS when I was a freshman. I hated it. Yes, hate is a strong word. I have not been able to workout as much as I have wanted. Hopefully, after my class is over this term I can get back into it.

Kaelyn is about to start softball again. This is her second year..we are excited for her and looking forward to watching her grow. Caleb has found a new sport as well. We took him to Coach Jordan's wrestling program at CHS. He loved it..yes he is the smallest..and yes, the moms are like, "You are letting him wrestle, already." What they don't understand is that his daddy's and his uncle's name is up on that wall..the Wall of Champions. And someday, mommy wants to see his up there too. It was great to watch Chris out there on that mat helping him..he usually doesn't have a whole lot of patience...but that night, he had all the patience in the world.

Have You Ever...?

This will be the first of many postings in regards to Gatlinburg. A little background..every year (well for 3 years) we have attended Resurrection in Gatlinburg with our church youth group. Although we always return feeling extremely tired, we also return with a fire for Christ. Everyone needs a little revival at some point.

I'm not ready to share any pictures yet. But for some reason this morning I felt led to share with whoever reads this an amazing feeling. I titled this Have you ever..because I wanted people to think about things they have never done and want to put on their "bucket list." At the very top should be...lead someone to Christ.
I watched 5 of our youth accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour this weekend. With this commitment comes great responsibility (yes, Spiderman..sort of..with great power, comes great responsibility). Now it is our role as Christians to help guide them on this journey. There was one member who surrendered this weekend who I have been particularly praying and working with. He means a great deal to me and it was absolutely amazing to watch him walk up during the altar call and accept Jesus. I thought having my children or getting married would definitely be at the top of my happiest time list. And they are there..absolutely...but this beat both of those. (I'm sure when my children accept Jesus..that will be at the top.) There just is not another feeling like it.

So, I challenge you all to have this same experience. It allows you to experience Christ in a different way when you know that someone you love has made the commitment that will guarantee their eternal salvation.

Love you all..will share pictures when we return from the trip. Please join us at church on the 25th to really understand and share in our Gatlinburg Resurrection 2009 experience.

MDA Website

Sorry I forgot to leave an important part of this...visit the website to make any donations. Hope this finds everyone well! So, I am using my blog for personal gain! I have volunteered for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and am being locked up on February 25th. My bail is $1200.00..wow! I hate asking people for money and I know everyone is having fundraiser after fundraiser (I know because Kaelyn has one about every month). So without sounding redundant (please donate to a good cause). Please donate to a good cause. I know everyone is experiencing difficult times..but we can't forget those who are less fortunate. Wheel chairs and braces are expensive..especially for people who don't have insurance. Any little you can donate I would really appreciate..$5, $10, $20. Trust me..I understand how tough times are! Thanks so much for supporting me in this...God Bless you all!

A Look into 2009

As promised, I have posted some pictures from Christmas! (Just checkout the slide show.) After my post on Christmas Eve, we all had another round of sickness. Thank goodness we made it through Christmas Day with no sickness! Now that Christmas is over, we are all looking toward an exciting 2009.

I have told many of you that I don't make resolutions. Resolutions are always broken. So, I like to call them goals. That seems to work a little better. So here are few of my goals for my family this year.

I would love for all of us to get healthier. Shannon and Chris are running a 5K on Valentine's Day and I would love to be able to the next one with them. So, we have made a goal to go to the YMCA more and eat healthier (as a family). We can only do it together! I also want to use my Wii Fit more. I got this for Christmas and it's really fun!

I want to continue Kaelyn's passion for learning. Chris and I have to commit to take time with her whenever she is wanting to read and write. I also want to start reading to both of the kids every night and saying our family prayer (we have definitely put this aside since the busy holiday season).

I will be finished with my master's by this time next year. I am open to new and exciting things with my career this year.

Chris and I have committed to do better financially. We just want to be a little more "tighter" with our money to ensure we fulfill some long term goals we have. And he has promised...we will not purchase a vehicle this year. In fact, we are trying not make any major purchases this year at all.

I have mentioned everyone except Caleb, but it's not like he has some major goals at 3. So we just want to keep him as sweet and rotten as he is.

Chris and I also have some high expectations and goals for our youth group and spiritually in general. Some of this will be fulfilled with the trip to Gatlinburg (at least a good start).

Above all, I want to make sure we take time for all of our family. This past year has been crazy with sickness, deaths, surgeries, and accidents. I think we have all learned not to take anyone for granted. With that said, I ask that all of you pray for my mom. She is having a somewhat simple surgery on the 15th. But nevertheless, we want to make sure that everything goes well.

Merry Christmas

Wow! It has been five long weeks since I had a post! Not that my life is so exciting that people are counting. Anyways...Christmas is tomorrow. It seems just like yesterday I was in Chicago watching Dirty Dancing (and according to my blog, I was). So here is what has been going on in 5 weeks!

Work has been insane and this is an understatement. It always is this time of year. I am really trying to not become a scrooge this time of year simply because of my job. I don't ever want to be seen that way simply because I truly love Christmas. I love the decorations, the songs, the movies, and teaching my children about Jesus Christ and the true meaning of Christmas. Working retail does make it hard sometimes to enjoy the season...just because you can't wait until things settle down again and you have time to breathe. I love my job, don't get me wrong, this time of year is just tiring, and rewarding. So, it's Christmas Eve and as many times as I have said I can't wait until it's over, I can wait until it's over.

What I can't wait for is to see the smiles on my children's eyes in the morning and the excitment and joy of our family as they open the gifts that we have thought long and hard on what to get them. I love, love, love spending time with my in-laws and my family..Christmas breakfast at Memama's is a tradition and then my parent's for lunch. (My grandmother tried cancelling Thanksgiving dinner this year and I almost had a melt down.) I am really grounded in tradition and I can't imagine not doing some of these things. Mainly because it takes me back to my childhood when I had no worries and Santa Claus was real!

So I side-tracked...over the past 5 weeks I have finished this past semester of school (only 4 more classes to go), almost gotten through my 9th holiday at Bath and Body Works (I should get a reward), everyone in my house has been sick (except Chris--knock on wood), finished all my Christmas shopping, and I think that's it. A couple of family things in between, but not time for too many this time of year. We are all mainly too tired and come home and crawl up on the couch together and watch holiday movies.

That's my summation of the past few weeks. I will share some holiday pictures once Santa arrives tomorrow! Merry Christmas to all of you may God Bless you and your families in the new year!

I had the Time of my Life!

When I was 10, I saw the movie for the very first time. It changed my life forever (OK, so a little dramatic). But it definitely changed the way I walked around for at least a week. I remember wearing a blue jean skirt for 5 days straight so I could swish it around like Baby did up on that stage as she waited for Johnny to come back for her so she could do the lift. And Johnny Castle..need I say more. Patrick Swayze won my heart with his charm and his swagger. To this day, he is the one actor that I will watch a movie for just because he is in it. I bought the People magazine with him on the cover and will cherish it forever. It breaks my heart that he is so sick and we pray for him and his family.
When we were in Chicago with the girls a few weeks ago, we saw advertisements for the play. I was speechless. My favorite movie of all time (by that I mean..the one that still makes me cry, gives me chills, makes me sing, and makes me wish Chris could dance a little like Johnny) was on Broadway! How amazing! Before we left, I was using the hotel computer to see when shows were and how much plane tickets would cost. And, could it be done in one day? Where there's Dirty Dancing (and a determined Dirty Dancing fanatic) there's a way. We booked the big day a couple of weeks ago and just returned last night. It was amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The play was extremely similar to the movie...all my favorite songs, dances, kisses. When watching the movie all those 500+ times, I always thought "It would be so amazing to be that in that audience watching them do their final dance." I was in that audience yesterday..I had chills, I was singing, and I wanted to dance (and I would have, but I would have been yelled at by the theater employees). Thanks to Corneice and Cassie for going with me...I know it was a little adventuresome and out of our character to do something like this...but you only live once..and I could not go on without seeing this play. Remember...Nobody puts Baby in a corner!

To my "Dancing" companions...don't forget, if we are going down in the airplane..make sure you Blow, Blow, Blow!! And if you are flying with more than one child, pick the one with the most potential! God has truly blessed us with an amazing church family. Chris and I have been involved with the youth for a few years now off and on. It is very time consuming; but so rewarding. I think what really motivates us is our love for God; but also at some point our children will be youth group members in this church. We want to play a part in the spiritual development of the people that may be leading them. Each of the youth group members means so much to both of us. Sometimes I think they teach us, more than we teach them. They are each amazing individuals and have a special part of our hearts. Our love for them is unconditional; just as if they were our own children. We appreciate their parents for allowing us to play such a critical part in their lives and love each and every one of them.

The food was amazing! Corneice won first place this year with her last minute potato soup. Of course, Chris and I were stressed that we would not have enough acts for the talent portion. We prepared an amazing skit with the youth group that they worked on for 2 weeks. It went wonderfully! The message was powerful and it gave the youth group something to really get involved in and stand behind. We had some amazing singers as well--Jamie and the Brown boys performed along with one of my friends Dawn. They all did so great! The kids played bells and we had a surprise performance from the "old" youth choir. A few of the youth members did what is called "raving." It's a slang word for a light show; it looks really cool! Thanks so much for everyone that helped with everything. There are some videos from the talent show at the bottom.

I almost forgot the comedian of the night...the youth got bored after we practiced their skit in the afternoon. They prepped Caleb for a "Bill Cosby" type performance. They asked him random questions and he definitely gave random answers. Enjoy!

Continue praying for our youth group. Pray for their continued devotion to Jesus Christ and our church. Please pray for their guidance through the tough decisions in life and pray that Satan doesn't stand in the way of their relationship with Jesus Christ. It is the most important one they will ever have.

Fall is Here!

It has been eventful few weeks..sorry haven't had time for updates. We have been so busy with Fall Festivals, Halloween, youth group activities, and family events (not to mention work is getting crazy because of the busy Christmas season and I have four more weeks left of school). I have lots of pictures of Halloween and some from the Fall Festival at East Montgomery. We also got to see Reed for his first birthday down at Gramma's house. Everyone had so much fun just watching the kids spend time with each other.

For Halloween, Kaelyn was a Pink Lady and Caleb was a lion. They both had such a great time trick-or-treating. This was really the first year they could walk around well with us with minimal complaining. It was definitely a fun night. Fall is my favorite time of the year so I hope kids have some fond memories of all the activities we have done over the past few months.

The Pumpkin Patch Part Deux

Today I went with Kaelyn's kindergarten class to Honeysuckle Hills in Coopertown. Needless to say, this was an adventure. There were about 80 five and six year olds running around. It was such a great time to spend with Kaelyn and her friends. I loved watching her interact with the other kids and her teacher. These are the things I hope she remembers most about her childhood.

With that said..this next part is specifically for my mom....

As I was waiting for the buses to pull out this morning, everything felt so unorganized and I had no idea where to go. I thought for a moment, I don't know where to go..it would just be easier to go home and have a day to get things done around the house. Then I thought of my mom..and all the times things must have been really hard on my mom and she did them anyways. When we were in Chicago, we were having fun and talking about our favorite childhood memories based on some conversation starters at American Girl Place. Today, I remembered quite a few of them. I remember the time my mom would work in my elementary school library when she was working part time. It was great to have my mom with me at school (I know what it feels like for Kaelyn to have me there). In high school, I particpated in a community service organization called Interact. During a meeting, we were responsible for leading it with a guest speaker. I had arranged for a friend of Chris' to come speak..he had just started college and I thought he could talk to us about the transition. About 2 hours before the meeting started, he had to cancel. I had no idea what I was going to do. My meeting turned in to women in the workforce and my mom was the guest speaker. Wtih about 30 minutes notice, she dressed up to the hilt and gave a great presentation in front of all my friends. She really came to my rescue. Two days before my senior prom, I went to pick up my prom dress. The store had altered the dress incorrectly and it didn't fit. Once again, my mom fixed everything. She went and bought fabric and got someone to make a new dress for me in 48 hours. WOW! These are just a few things..I didn't even mention all the softball trips, movie dates in which she drove, and all the field trips she attended.

So, I know it took 28 years to hear, but thank you. Thank you for always being the mom who threw herself into her kids and taught me great lessons along the way. I know being a single mother how much you sacrificed for us. (I can't even imagine being a single mother with my two kids.) You have made me the mother I am today and I understand more and more everyday alot of the feelings you had when we were growing up.

We are grown up..take care of yourself..make yourself happy...enjoy watching your children and grandchildren and what you have helped create. I love you.

The Bell Choir

Tonight the kids performed at church for Laity Club. They did such a great job! Kaelyn is veteraned, but Caleb just sits up there and rings away when someone else is shaking their bells. We also were blessed to hear the Brown brothers sing. We took a trip to Chicago over the weekend with Gramma, Nana, Cindy, and Kassandra. And it was amazing! I caught myself just watching everyone a few times..wondering if they would have the same great memories I have from this trip. I hope Kaelyn looks back at this weekend and understands that it wasn't just about going to Chicago; it was about girls spending time together..talking girl talk, eating because it's good, and enjoying great times with family! (yes..Cindy and Kassandra are definitely part of the family)

Kaelyn and Kassandra are absolutely the two cutest kids ever..they get along so great (and fight so great). They are just like sisters and I know they will be best friends forever. Thank you to my mom, Corneice, and Cindy for going with us. I had such a great time with all of you and am so glad we did this. It's great spending time with all of you..talking about the past and great times we have had and enjoying the moments we are in now. I learn something from each of you all of the time. Although I'm a mom now, I still learn "mom things" from you guys . I hope I leave things with you as well.

We did so many things in Chicago...I don't know where to start. In true form, there are lots of pictures in the slideshow! We checked out American Girl Place and had a brunch there on the second day. This was a great experience for all of us. We walked. We saw Milennium Park; the girls wanted swing sets, but there were none. We walked. We saw the Chicago theater..no one had seen this in movies, except me! We walked. We went to Navy Pier and rode the Ferris Wheel on Friday night. We also watched the fireworks. We walked. We saw lots of Dirty Dancing advertisements for the broadway production (don't worry..the next trip is in the works). And we walked..and all those times we walked...we ate!

I can't wait to do another trip like this again somewhere else with everyone..these are some of the greatest memories I will treasure and hope all of you do too! She is 6! (almost) We celebrated a couple of days early; she really turns 6 on the 8th of October! So almost 6 years ago I was being induced to have my first child. The doctor accidentally cut her head as they were delivering her; she didn't really cry though. She has been just as tough and hard headed ever since; not sure where she gets that..probably from Grumpy. We had a very low key birthday party at the house..just close family and a few friends from the neighborhood. She loved playing with all the kids; but mainly chasing Eric around..she loves him so much and he runs because he likes the attention. We had a great time with all the family. Thanks to everyone who came and Kaelyn really appreciates all the gifts!

We leave for Chicago on the 16th to go to the American Girl Place. I can't wait! Mainly for two big reasons--this will be an amazing experience for Kaelyn and I to share together; but also the two most important women in my life are going with us--my mom and my mother-in-law. These are the most special people to me and I am so glad Kaelyn gets to see all of us together as a family. We are also traveling with Cindy and Kassandra--the other most important people in our lives. Kaelyn can't wait to hang out with Kassandra! I'm sure we will have lots of memories to share from this trip. It doesn't seem like it's been that long; but 2 kids and 8 years of marriage later..and there you have it! We met at Coy Lacy park during the day..and everybody has been having babies!! There were kids galore..the people you could never have imagined as parents..were now parents. Everybody grew up..it was nice to take a moment and just sit back and watch. Saturday night we went to Blackhorse and lots of people were there! It's so nice to see people still connected after all these years. Although we have all gone on different paths, married people (some divorced), had babies (some not)..we all have something in common. We attended Clarksville High School. We made lasting memories through sporting events, favorite classes, pep rallies, and after school clubs. And although I haven't seen some of these people in 10 years and don't talk to some of them near as much as I should, these are people that will always be there. I would like to think our class was different from your typical high school class...we all had our clicks and popular people..but we all knew we could count on each other. I am so glad that I can call of these people my friends. Thanks to the organizers and everyone who came! We made lasting memories and can't wait to see everyone in another 10. Below are some pictures of our night! To Michael..everyone asked about you and missed seeing you..hopefully you can come to the next one..everyone would love to see you!

Time with Caleb and Lane

I had the privilege of picking up the boys on Tuesday from school. Memama wasn't feeling well; I was off from work anyways and Caleb loves playing with Lane. Amazingly enough, they were both really good. They play very well together and are so silly. You never know what they will do or say. As Lane was leaving, Caleb wanted hugs. Lane refused, so Brent said oh just give him kisses Caleb. Caleb responded with "That's gross!" Here are some fun pictures and a little video of the boys just being boys. Kaelyn was so lucky to be able to have almost all of her grandparents there. Grumpy was working out of town so he was unable to attend..but still there in spirit. I'm so glad Kaelyn has lots of people around her that love and support her. My grandparents were a driving force in my development and helped me become who I am today. We are so blessed to have all of you around her and Caleb. We could not ask for a better family. So thank you to Hiny, Nana, Gramma, Grumpy, Memama, Grandaddy, and Ann (although she is not a grandmother, my kids love her to death and she thinks the world of them). We love you all and thank you for all you do for us! Here are few pictures to commemorate the special day. On Saturday, everyone gathered at Hollis Park (behind Memama's house) for a cookout. The kids had a blast!! There was four wheeler riding and a paddle boat for the pond! (A couple of snakes were seen slithering around as well.) Sorry, I don't have pictures of this..I wasn't feeling very well that night so I came home early. On Sunday everyone came to Cheatham Dam under the pavilion. This used to be the traditional site of the reunion. (Just a little side note...when Chris and I first started dating--Labor Day 1995--my mom decided to take me and my sister down to Cheatham Dam for a little family time...Chris was there for his family reunion..of course I was having that teenage love...butterflies and excitement because I got to see him outside of school..I don't think I actually came over and met the family at this point though) Here are some pictures of the kids playing..you'll have to check out Corneice's blog for the family photo!

This is Cody...Chris' cousin..and although 18..still a kid!!

Baby Reed and Cichael...we miss you!!

Silly Lane Barger...looks just like his daddy..he'll

grow out of it!! Have a great week everyone!!

First Day of Kindergarten

We have had an eventful couple of weeks. Kaelyn has started Kindergarten at East Montgomery Elementary (Chris' old stomping ground)! So far she has really liked it and has made an easy transition. Mommy on the other hand, was a blubbering mess as they announced on her first day that this is the class of 2021. I can't imagine sending her to kindergarten every day..I don't even want to think about graduating from high school. Here are a couple of pictures of her first school bus ride. She was a trooper and really enjoyed it!

I HAVE FINALLY GIVEN IN!!

Everybody in my life is technologically more advanced than me...so I thought I would keep up with the times and finally be a "blogger." I don't really have a major purpose in my blog..except showing off my family; plus since we now have family in other places, this will help us stay better connected to what's going on each other's lives. Above is a picture of Chris and me, below our beautiful children..without whom our lives would be totally uneventful and we would have to find something to actually talk about with each other...lol!!!
